Japan vs Mexico: Domestic Wastewater — Emissions (CO2eq) (AR5)
Domestic Wastewater — Emissions (CO2eq) (AR5) over time
- Japan
- Mexico
How they compare
Mexico currently reports 5,850 kt against 5,054 kt in Japan, a difference of 796 kt.
That makes Mexico's figure about 1.2 times Japan's.
The two have swapped places 1 time across 34 shared years of data; in 1990 it was Japan ahead.
Japan ranks 13th and Mexico ranks 11th of 220 countries.
Across the 4 decades both report, Japan averaged higher in 2 and Mexico in 2.
Head to head by decade
| Decade | Japan | Mexico | Difference | Ahead |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1990s | 5,122 kt | 3,911 kt | 1,211 kt | Japan |
| 2000s | 5,157 kt | 4,629 kt | 528.33 kt | Japan |

About this data
The FAOSTAT domain Emissions from Pre- and Post-Agricultural Production provides estimates of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and related activity data associated with pre- and post-production stages of agrifood systems. The domain includes methane (CH4), nitrous oxide (N2O), carbon dioxide (CO2), fluorinated gases (F-gases) and their aggregates expressed in carbon dioxide equivalent (CO2eq). Estimates are computed following Tier 1 methods of the IPCC Guidelines for National Greenhouse Gas Inventories (IPCC, 1996; 1997; 2000; 2002; 2006; 2014) and are disseminated annually.
