Costa Rica vs Sudan: Nutrient nitrogen N (total) — Indirect emissions (N2O that leaches)
Nutrient nitrogen N (total) — Indirect emissions (N2O that leaches) over time
- Costa Rica
- Sudan
How they compare
Sudan currently reports 0.426 kt against 0.3828 kt in Costa Rica, a difference of 0.0432 kt.
That makes Sudan's figure about 1.1 times Costa Rica's.
The two have swapped places 1 time across 12 shared years of data; in 2012 it was Costa Rica ahead.
Costa Rica ranks 78th and Sudan ranks 75th of 199 countries.
Sudan has averaged higher in every one of the 2 decades both report.
Head to head by decade
| Decade | Costa Rica | Sudan | Difference | Ahead |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2010s | 0.3183 kt | 0.3428 kt | 0.0245 kt | Sudan |
| 2020s | 0.2953 kt | 0.5402 kt | 0.2448 kt | Sudan |
Averages of every year both report within each decade.

About this data
The FAOSTAT domain on Emissions from Crops provides estimates of emissions associated with crop processes, namely 1) crop residues, 2) burning of crop residues, and 3) rice cultivation and the application of nitrogen (N) fertilizers, including mineral and chemical fertilizers, to soils. Estimates are computed at Tier 1 following the 2006 IPCC Guidelines for National greenhouse gas (GHG) Inventories (IPCC, 2006).
