Data definition and source GHG are estimated by sector of origin at the subnational level using the Emissions Database for Global Atmospheric Research (EDGAR) (Joint Research Centre). What the numbers show
Greenhouse gas emissions - Regions — GHG emissions from power generation is currently reported for 47 countries. The highest value is 1.47 billion Tonnes of CO2-equivalent in United States of America; the lowest is 2,877 Tonnes of CO2-equivalent in Iceland.
The median across all reporting countries is 15.05 million Tonnes of CO2-equivalent, and the mean is 125.76 million Tonnes of CO2-equivalent.
Over the past decade 6 countries rose and 41 fell. The largest increase was in Indonesia (up 81.8%), and the largest decrease in Costa Rica (down 98.9%).

This dataset provides indicators on greenhouse gas emissions (GHG) in large (TL2) and small (TL3) regions. See the methodology. Definition of regions Regions are subnational units below national boundaries. OECD countries have two regional levels: large regions (territorial level 2 or TL2) and small regions (territorial level 3 or TL3).
